European Space Solutions

London – 3-5 December 2012

European Space Solutions, a major 3-day conference, exhibition and business support event will bring together business and the public-sector with users and developers of space-based solutions to explore how space can make a real difference to the lives, and livelihoods, of people across Europe. Space-based services and technologies are the future of efficient, effective and sustainable services that society needs. Conference participants will learn about current developments in their sector and explore tomorrow’s solutions for today’s challenges.
The European Space Expo – a state of the art, interactive public exhibition showcasing the many benefits that they EU space programmes bring to Europe – will complement the conference.

European Space Solutions will feature:

11 user-led, half-day seminars exploring with new users how the EU’s navigation and Earth observation programmes deliver innovative solutions to real-life problems and the scope for new solutions. The seminars will be focussed on user needs in these sectors:

  • Healthcare and health protection
  • Local Authorities managing their towns and cities
  • Aviation
  • Agriculture
  • Road users and traffic management
  • Ship and Vessel management
  • Rail
  • Insurance and financial services
  • Emergency response and disaster management
  • Sustainable energy
  • Environmental protection

A unique ‘Business Support and Application Development Fair’ that will feature:

  • Opportunities for users to discuss solutions with space professionals and to explore whether new work can be done to resolve outstanding challenges – matching problems with solutions
  • A Developers Area featuring support corners for developers/SMEs focusing on financing and EU funding opportunities, IPR, business support/incubation, EGNOS/Galileo and GMES technical support
  • Ongoing tutorial workshops covering a range of topics including how to find funding, and Intellectual Property Rights
  • Pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings and business matching
  • Elevator-pitch sessions focussed on user groups, including direct feedback from business and technical expert
  • A special 1-day workshop on the future Galileo PRS (Public Regulated Service)
  • Plus, a range of networking, business exchange, special topic, media and social events!

Central London’s largest conference venue, Central Hall Westminster was the site of the first meeting of the United Nations in 1946 and has welcomed many prominent figures over the years including Mahatma Gandhi, Bertrand Russell, the Dalai Lama, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Sir Winston Churchill and HM Queen Elizabeth.

The European Space Expo comes to London!

The European Space Solutions event will be complemented by the London installation of the ‘European Space Expo’, a 300 m2 travelling interactive public exhibition showcasing the many ways that the European Space Programme, and its flagship projects for satellite navigation (Galileo and EGNOS) and earth monitoring (GMES), are improving life on Earth. The Expo will be open to the public from 1-6 December at Horse Guards Parade in St. James’s Park.
